Summary:

The purpose of the job is to lead the category relationship with our customers or groups of customers to develop shopper focused insight and build a long-term category development plan.  The Category Manager can be the first point of influence on the selling process.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to and executing the Consumer & Category Activation Plan for key categories
  • Make recommendations for adapting Area and Global innovation and leverage BDIs and category strategies for the ANZ market
  • Work with ANZ supply, ANZ sales and finance, to prepare and execute plans to deliver key financial targets including net revenue and market share targets within timescales and budget
  • Contribute to and implement the annual Activation business plan including category 4Ps, monitor performance and competitor activity and recommend adjustments to the strategy & tactics
  • Monitor market performance and ensure the successful implementation of plans. Review market share and develop contingency plans when required with the team to align to category strategy
  • Execute agreed product launches and further contribute by delivering local BDIs
  • Contribute to and execute effective 4P strategies based on Global Success Models and an understanding of customers, categories and consumers to maximise results
  • Ensure promotional laws (LSM) are in line with Area and global brand and commercial strategy and are adhered to across the customer mix
  • Accountable for the consumer marketing & trade marketing budget for the category




Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • A university degree is required, ideally in business/marketing
  • At least 5+ years in commercial marketing roles
  • Expertise in commercializing initiatives with excellence.
  • Understands the strategic & tactical nature of the business.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage up and across organization.
  • Ability to collaborate remotely with the platform.
  • Ability to succinctly communicate consumer needs and opportunities to the platform team
  • Multi-function and multi-tasking abilities
  • Manages executions diligently, with keen attention to details
  • Values others, and cultures
  • Self-starter and acts with integrity
  • Analytical skills
  • Understanding of “ACNielsen” syndicated data, MINE and Adopt processes
  • Strong Computer skills, Microsoft Office

 

Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:

  • Customer Insight –  A deep understanding of customer needs; knows what it will take to create more profitable winning customer propositions and translating this into customer plans.
  • Translating insights into executable plans –  Comfortable working with high volumes of complex data. Can extract simple, penetrating, actionable insights (the ‘so what?’) from multiple sources of information and communicate these effectively with customers in order to generate decisions and actions
  • Internal & External Collaboration –  can deliver big commercial outcomes using category levers and lead an agenda with a customer to a new level of collaboration and mutual growth
  • Influencing skills –  you need to be a commercial operator who knows how to get things done in customers, has an in depth understanding of their business strategies, operating practices, culture and customers
  • Multifunctional commercial experience in Customer Marketing –  either in Sales and/or Marketing, in a Household Care Company.  You should also have a good track record of delivering objectives consistently, and at least 2 years in either a Marketing & Commercialisation or a Sales role
  • Strategic & Analytical thinking –  You can set out a vision, inspire others to get behind it and foster commitment through head and heart (data, evidence and insight) 
  • Knowledge –  Knowledge of the Category, pertinent Key Customers, and key Competitive set
